Essie Marshmallow

Hey everyone! Been a while. After we got back from Hilton Head last Tuesday we were so busy going back to work I didn't even have time to paint my nails. We had an amazing time and I would definitely go again.

For today's nails I used Essie Marshmallow, which I just recently purchased from Target when they were doing a BOGO 50% off on Essie polishes. Marshmallow is a soft, sheer white that builds up nicely in 3 coats. You do have to be patient - I waited about 5 minutes in between coats and didn't have any issues. I love this color as an alternative to white, which can look a little too harsh for me sometimes. I topped a couple nails with some cute gold shell/flower stickers, but this mani looked gorgeous on its own as well.

Hope you have a great week!

Lemon Nails

Hey everyone! How's your weekend going? The weather in Jersey City has been beautiful. We spent the afternoon at our apartment's pool and it was so nice. Definitely ready for school to end so I can spend more time out there.

I've really been feeling all things summer, so I painted my nails with two coats of Essie Bikini So Teeny. This cornflower blue is so perfect for this time of year. I used a small detail brush to paint on some lemons. How cute?! I've never done lemon nail art before and I'll definitely be doing it again.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Zoya Haruko

Hey everyone! Hope you're having a good week so far. We took our second graders on a field trip today to Sandy Hook beach. It was a bit cold, but luckily the rain held off until the very end.

I wanted to share a mani I did recently but didn't have a chance to post on my blog. The color I used was Zoya Haruko, which is described as a soft violet metallic. I love the lilac shimmer in this one! It's the perfect shade for spring. I added some pretty little pearl studs and love how it looks.

Have a great rest of the week!

OPI Cajun Shrimp

Hey everyone! How was your weekend? We enjoyed the gorgeous weather on Saturday and met up with some friends for brunch in the city. I'm so excited about the higher temps!

I grabbed for OPI Cajun Shrimp for my toes and fingers. I'm obsessed with this hot red coral! I think it would be flattering on any skin tone. I've been seeing lots of pretty tulips around Jersey City so I was inspired to do a little tulip design. Isn't it pretty?! Always love some good floral nail art.

Have a great week!

OPI Mod About You

Hey everyone! How was your weekend? I tried to enjoy every second since it was the end of my spring break and school is back in session :( The good news is that June is just around the corner which means summer! I'm so looking forward to that.

Today I'm sharing this pretty sparkly mani that is so simple to recreate using any color combo. I started with two coats of OPI Mod About You, a gorgeous light pink creme. The first coat was a tad streaky, but evened out nicely with the second coat. For my glitter near the cuticle I used Essie Set In Stones, applied with a small detail brush. Any glitter or metallic would have worked for this. Gold or even rose gold would be beautiful! Just use what you have.

Hope you have a great week!

Zoya Cadence

Hey everyone! How was your weekend? We went to see the cherry blossoms in Branchbrook Park on Saturday with my family and then had a delicious lunch at Hobby's Deli in Newark. Sunday was a clean up/laundry day. I actually wrote this post while my husband watched Game of Thrones because I'm not interested (sorry not sorry).

I recently received my Zoya Earth Day order, which is still going on until the end of April. You can get 6 polishes for $30, so that's 50% off, plus free shipping. Mine came about a week after ordering! I've had Everly and Cadence on my wish list since the winter holo trio came out so I picked those up, plus Fern from the new spring collection. The other three polishes were for my mother-in-law.

I knew I wanted to wear Cadence as soon as I saw it because it's so springy! I would describe it as a true holographic pink. I needed two coats to achieve opacity. Zoya does some of the prettiest holos and I love how smooth the formula is. The ones I currently have are darker colors so I'm happy to have a couple of brighter shades for spring/summer.

Hope you have a great week!

Pink Leopard Nails

Hey everyone! How was your weekend? We enjoyed the beautiful weather on Saturday and got out to do some errands. We also did some cleaning up around the apartment, which was needed after I was sick for two weeks! We're having brunch with our families later this afternoon so I figured I would share my nails this morning.

I don't know how it got into my head that I would do pink leopard nails, but here they are. I started with a base of Essie Madison Ave-hue, a true pink with very fine silver shimmer. It's super pretty and the formula is wonderfully smooth. I used two coats here. To make the leopard design I used a small detail brush with Essie Plumberry and Sexy Divide.

Hope you have a great week!

Floral Nail Art

Hey everyone! How was your weekend? I'm finally starting to feel better after being sick all week and I'm hoping that the germs don't continue lingering in my classroom. On Saturday hubby and I went to see Hamilton and loved it! We bought the tickets months ago and it felt like we waited forever to see it, but the wait was totally worth it.

After the temperature being in the 60s on Sunday I'm really feeling ready for spring. I grabbed one of my favorite spring colors, Essie Go Ginza. This lilac creme goes on opaque in two easy coats. I used a whole bunch of pretty colors to make some flowers with a small detail brush. You don't have to be super careful when you do this - it's supposed to be abstract! It always comes out looking beautiful.

Hope you have a great week!

OPI Kanpai OPI

Hey everyone! How was your week? I've been sick ALL week and it has been rough. My second grade class became infected with strep, flu, and stomach bug. I came down with something last weekend and have had flu-like symptoms all week. I made it into work on Wednesday, but otherwise have been home sick. I'm starting to feel a little better and thank goodness for that because hubby and I have tickets to see Hamilton tomorrow. Hopefully I'm not coughing the whole time!

The other day I shared OPI Tempura-ture from the Tokyo Collection, and today I have another polish from that collection. This one is Kanpai OPI and I would describe it as a dusty periwinkle blue-grey. If you pick up just one color from this collection, I would highly recommend this one. The color is SO unique and the formula is great. It's just the perfect transition color from winter into spring. I can definitely see doing some floral nail art over top in the future.

Hope you have a great weekend!

OPI Tempura-ture is Rising!

Hey everyone! I haven't posted in over a month, though I have been painting my nails. I've definitely been in a slump with blog posts and sometimes wonder if blogging is worth doing or if it would make more sense to just post on social media. If you do want to see recent polish I've worn, check my Instagram @manicurediaryblog for a bunch of nails I haven't posted here.

Anyway, today I have a color from the OPI Tokyo Collection. It's a coral leaning orange shade called Tempura-ture is Rising! (cute, right?) The formula was great on this one and I only needed two coats to reach opacity. I can't wait to put this one on my toes.

Hope you have a great week!

Pink Skittles Mani

Hey everyone! We had a snow day yesterday and I took full advantage of it. I made a yummy breakfast, watched Dumplin' on Netflix (so good!), baked banana bread, and painted my nails.

I've seen a super fun pink skittles mani going around on Instagram and I just had to recreate it. Somehow I don't have as big of a range of pinks as I thought I did, but I made it work.

The bottle I'm holding is OPI Cajun Shrimp, which you can't see because it's on my thumb but it's a great reddish coral. Then from left to right I'm wearing Smith & Cult Suburban Warrior, Deborah Lippmann Whip It, Zoya Jordan, and OPI Mod About You. The great thing about this mani is you can use any pinks you have, as long as you go from dark to light! I think this is such a cute look.

Hope you have a lovely Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day Nails

Hey everyone! It's been a WHILE. Honestly, I haven't felt like painting my nails for about a week. My cuticles have also been super dry and gross looking so that was part of it. I finally took my polish out today for a Valentine's Day look and it makes me happy seeing my nails painted again.

I started with a base of Zoya Jordan, a soft pink creme that goes on beautifully in two coats. I was sent some new stamping plates from Born Pretty Store a few weeks ago, one of which is for Valentine's Day. All of the designs are so cute! I had a hard time choosing, so I just did a different one on each nail. I used Zoya Sooki, a cherry red creme, as my stamping color.

Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day? Since it's a week night, we'll stay in but go out for dinner over the weekend. If you place an order with BPS make sure you use my discount code ASY10 for 10% off!

Zoya Maryann

Hey everyone! How was your weekend? We celebrated my birthday, which was on the 15th. On Saturday we met my family at Carmines for a delicious dinner and then hubby took me to see Mean Girls on broadway. We both loved it!

Since we're staying in today during this freezing weather, I decided to paint my nails with one of the new colors I just ordered from Zoya. This one is Maryann from their most recent fall collection and I would describe it as a shimmery pinky rose. I absolutely LOVE this color and the formula was easy to work with. I used two coats here, but had pretty good coverage at one.

Even though this is from the fall collection I see it working year round. Wouldn't it be pretty for Valentine's Day?!

Hope you have a great week!

Zoya Payton

Hey everyone! How was your weekend? I decided to really take advantage of my time on Sunday and did laundry, some organizing, and a ton of food prep, including baking! (And painted my nails of course) It felt great to be so productive and I'm going to try do it more often in 2019.

I was in the mood for something sparkly so I reached for Zoya Payton, a deep cranberry purple with scattered holographic glitter. It's like Aurora's darker cousin. I love all of Zoya's scattered holos. The formula on each one is amazing and they're just so pretty. Sometimes I like to wear a different color on each finger and go for a skittle look!

Hope you have a great week!
