Rosh Hashanah Nails

Hey everyone! Hope you're having a great weekend. I spent Saturday prepping some delicious desserts for Rosh Hashanah. This year I made black and white cookies and my first ever chocolate babka! I think it came out pretty good, though the round shape was a little tricky to make.

I wanted to do some fun nail art for the holiday and decided on an apples and honey design. I started with two coats of Zoya Tawny on my thumb, index, and pinky fingers. My middle and ring fingers have two coats of OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around. Once that was dry, I used a small detail brush for the apple and honey dripping designs. I used creme colors first and then went in with shimmer to add some dimension. I think it came out pretty cute! The honey drips are so fun.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and Shanah Tovah!

Zoya Hera

Hey everyone! How was your weekend? I'm finally all done with my antibiotics and feeling recovered from strep throat. We had a bunch of errands to do since I was sort of out of service for a bit. We also checked out a big street fair in Jersey City and enjoyed the gorgeous weather and some yummy food.

I'm so excited that it's now officially fall! I have so many fall nail colors I'm looking forward to wearing, starting with Zoya Hera. This mauve creme has always been a favorite and I tend to wear it on repeat when I'm not sure what to wear. The formula is great and is opaque in two coats. To add a little something extra I dotted on a little silver with Zoya Trixie.

Hope you all have a great week!

Essie hay there

Hey everyone! How's your week going so far? If you read my last post you saw that I picked up two shades from the new Essie fall 2019 collection. One was on the bright cider, and the second is the one I'm wearing today.

Essie hay there is a buttery yellow creme with reddish undertones. I'm not a huge yellow polish wearer, but maybe it's because I haven't found the right one because this yellow is a stunner! I read a lot of people used three coats for this shade, but I only needed two to achieve full opacity. The formula is excellent. On my ring finger I'm wearing Essie fall for NYC and then I used hay there to create sunflower petals. You can use any brown you like for the center of the flower. I never thought I'd see yellow as a fall color, but this one has totally changed my mind.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your week!

Essie on the bright cider

Hey everyone! How was your weekend? I'm starting to feel a lot better now that I'm halfway through my strep antibiotics. Can't wait to be done with those and with being sick.

I've seen a bunch of pictures of Essie's new fall 2019 collection and knew there were a couple super unique ones I wanted. I know the two big hits are sweater weather and rust worthy, but green isn't really my favorite color and rust worthy is so similar to Say It Ain't Soho in my opinion. If you are interested in those are any other color from the collection, I recommend getting them soon because they are limited addition.

The two that caught my eye were on the bright cider and hay there. I definitely don't have anything like these in my collection yet! Today I'll be sharing on the bright cider, a warm creamy caramel nude with red undertones. I swear this is caramel in a nail polish bottle. This creme formula applied very nicely in two coats and I have to say I do love the new wide brushes on Essie polishes. It makes application a breeze.

Are any of the colors from this collection on your list? Hope you have a great week!

Fall Nails

Hey everyone! How was your week? I've been MIA because I somehow came down with strep :( I've been battling a fever and a horrible sore throat so I'm hoping the antibiotics kick in soon. Today is really the first time all week I've felt like painting my nails, so I grabbed for a couple of Essie colors from last year's fall collection.

I started with two coats of fall for NYC, a mustard yellow creme. Then I used say it ain't soho, a shimmery metallic copper, diagonally across the top. The last step was adding some FUN Lacquer Paparazzi in between the two colors. These colors are so pretty for fall! Anyone else so ready for sweater weather?

Hope you have a great weekend!

OPI You've Got that Glas-glow

Hey everyone! How was your week? I've been watching a lot of the US Open and I'm excited for the final matches this weekend. If you saw my last post, we actually went last weekend and saw Federer and Serena play. It was a lot of fun!

Now that it's September I'm really in the mood for fall colors on my nails. I shared this ombre look on my Instagram (@manicurediaryblog) earlier in the week. As fun as summer brights are, these types of shades are truly my favorite!

Recently I picked up You've Got that Glas-glow from OPI's new Scotland collection. The whole collection is really beautiful and definitely worth taking a look at. I may try to grab a few more shades. You've Got that Glas-glow is a lovely mauve-pink creme with an excellent formula. I used two coats here. The gold polish on my middle finger is Cirque Colors Halcyon and I used that along with OPI Bogota Blackberry to freehand some lines for a plaid pattern.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Tennis Nails

Hey everyone! Hope you're having a great weekend so far. I wanted to quickly share some nail art I did for the US Open tomorrow. My family usually goes one day every year and we always enjoy it.

I decided to do a different design on each nail and I think they're really fun! I'll go through what's on each finger (my thumb is the same as my middle finger).

Index: I started with a base of Essie Butler Please. The blue represents the court color at Arthur Ashe Stadium. I then stamped on a grid pattern in black to look like the net. Lastly I put a dot of China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini for my tennis ball.

Middle: This design is super simple! I started with a white base of Butter London Cotton Buds and this helped China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini pop on top of it. Then all you need to do is add two white curved lines for your tennis ball.

Ring: I saw this design on Instagram and thought it was so clever! It's supposed to look like the video that's shown when a call is challenged. I started with one coat of Zoya Ness and then layered Essie Butler Please diagonally across the top. Once this dried I used Butter London Cotton Buds to make the white lines representing those on the court. Lastly I added a dot of Chanel Orage, but obviously you don't need to use a luxury nail polish haha. Any dark gray will do!

Pinky: I used a base of Essie Butler Please again and then basically followed the same steps as the middle finger design.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your long weekend!
